roosting

Here's a pattern that has been nesting in my brain for a while. I'm still toying with the colors. My preferred palette is usually dark muted autumn tones so it is difficult to work with colors that are so quirky and upbeat. The drawing doesn't work in maroon and olive. Believe me, I tried.
I wonder what that says about my brain…drawn to comfortable darkness but drawing with silly light heartedness.

And everything I draw seems to belong on flannel jammies. Maybe it's because of my grandkids. Wouldn't you love a pair of footie pjs with these roosting birds?

Finally feeling a bit more grounded today. Had a great time at the lake. It sure was hard to come back. Here's a pattern I worked on after a day at the beach. It's a happy explosion.

doodlebugs

Here's a variation of the pattern below. I'm liking these characters, they make me laugh. I might create a series of them.

found this feather

Found this feather on a walk yesterday. It measures about half an inch. I scanned it in at 1200 DPI which revealed so much more detail than my eyes saw. Beautiful.

the zen of body construction

So, after hours of toil and spoil I have come to understand sculpture construction one bit more. Upon realizing that the body parts I had originally constructed weren't working with the new understructure, I disassembled and reassembled our zen girl. I made some yoga pants for her in black and then created a new tunic top that will allow for more stitching. Here are some of the work in progress shots.
