Stitching is my second language. I tell my story through the medium of quilted textiles. The contrast—a strong line against a giving surface—captures what I know and must say.
Every day, stitching takes me on a journey. It’s a slow process so I can be sensitive to surprises. As I work, I let the stitching tell me more than I think I know. My aim is to react and reconsider as a piece evolves. Those who know my process are often shocked by my drive to stitch, cut and recut, reassemble and rework—endlessly. As I disassemble and re-assemble, inward thoughts emerge and take shape through texture, line and form.
